OEM Ceramic Parts in Smaller Quantities
The heart of Ceramco’s manufacturing is near-net shaping. This process yields a part matching (or near) the customer’s specification. As the degree of follow-up machining required (if any) is depended primarily upon the tooling, it is at the tooling stage of production that costs are kept in check for small quantities. The result, regardless of quantity ordered, is a OEM ceramic part. At Ceramco, less than 100 pieces and prototypes define “small quantity.”
Prototyping Flexibility
A first-piece (first article) OEM ceramic part for customer review presents no problem whatsoever for Ceramco. Typically the prototype will be a part yielded from our 3D, LCM manufacturing process, whenever possible, which requires no tooling, or (when necessary) a light tooling investment satisfied by Ceramco's comprehensive machining, grinding and CNC capabilities and a grind blank, which we also produce.
Time-sensitive Delivery
A Machine Design survey of its readers (“ Engineers and OEM Components”, Aug 15, 2013) concluded the #1 factor in the decision to specify a OEM component was related to its delivery time. Ceramco manufactures small quantities of OEM ceramic parts in nearly the same amount of time required to produce our standard stock fasteners, not including tooling. Average completion time for small quantities of OEM ceramic parts is 2 to 4 weeks following the placing of the order.
Scalable and Vertically Integrated Production of OEM Ceramic Parts
Ceramco’s manufacturing processes are not optimized for any particular OEM ceramic parts order quantity. Ceramco produces large quantities utilizing the same processes by stepping-up the investment in tooling. Ceramco scales up easily when the customer is ready to move from prototype or small quantity of their OEM ceramic part, to a larger quantity or production run.
